Tilman Baumgärtel
Professor für Medientheorie

Prof. Dr. Tilman Baumgärtel lehrt Medientheorie an der Hochschule Mainz. Er hat von 2005 bis 2009 am Film Institute der University of the Philippines in Manila und von 2009 bis 2012 am Department of Media and Communication an der Royal University of Phnom Penh Medienwissenschaft und Journalismus unterrichtet. Zu seinen Arbeitsschwerpunkten gehören alternative Kinoformen, Medienkunst und Netzkultur und -kunst, über die er in Deutschland schon Ende der 90er Jahre schrieb. Er lebt in Berlin.

Dr. Tilman Baumgärtel is a writer. He lives in Berlin and teaches media studies at Hochschule Mainz. Previously he was a professor at the University of the Philippines in Manila (2005 - 2009) und at the Department of Media and Communication at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (2009 - 2012). He has written or edited nine books on various aspect of media culture, including internet art, computer games, media piracy, the aesthetics of loops and the director Harun Farocki.
