The symposia on May 7th and 8th, held at the same time as re:publica 2019, will examine two current trend-oriented topics and how they are turning their respective industries upside down. Throughout two days we offer a platform for intensive, professional exchange, knowledge transfer and encounters. The symposia will take place at the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin and are hosted by re:publica in cooperation with the dfv Conference Group.

Events re:loaded - festivalisation of events

The first symposium on May 7 will examine the impact of digitisation on the event industry. Topics such as artificial intelligence and data protection as well as aspects of sustainability and the megatrend of festivalisation will be explored. Among the speakers are Claudia Pohlink, Director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Telekom Innovation Laboratories and Ralf Bendrath, leading political consultant to the EU rapporteur on GDPR.

Digital Hemp - the oil of the 21st century

On May 8, the symposium"Digital Hemp - the oil of the 21st century" focuses on the potential of hemp plants. Products made of hemp and cannabis are currently experiencing a renaissance and are gaining momentum - both in Europe and worldwide. Digital networking, state-of-the-art information technologies and the internet are bringing a new dynamic to the subject. Cheryl Shuma, the Cannabis Queen from Beverly Hills, who was involved in founding more than 1.700 hemp businesses, will speak at the symposium. Among the speakers is also Sascha Waterkotte of the German Hemp Association, a leading figure in the German decriminalisation debate.
