The Arts and Europe - a Plea for more Unity in Life, Arts and Politics

Short thesis

What do a German, former UK-based artist, a Danish art curator, a Dutch cultural executive and a young film maker have in common? They believe in our continent's diversity and values which strongly influence their individual works - and meet at re:publica to unite their voices for a stronger Europe.

Description

Be it an anti-Brexit campaign or a pan-European cultural forum, a full feature film or a modern art exhibition: all four panelists express their belief in our continent's unity through diversity in their artistic work and have come to re:publica to share their ideas for a united Europe.

The session kicks off with a short introduction by acclaimed photographer Wolfgang Tillmans in which he will present his "Vote Together" campaign. Shila Meyer-Behjat, editor-in-chief of ARTE Magazin, will then moderate a discussion between our four panelists and show a Benjamin Stern's short film "Babylon" as part of the "The Love Europe Project", a pan-European film collaboration. Henriette Bretton-Meyer will share a few insights into how the documentary film festival CPH:DOX  and the accompanying art exhibition "Europa Endlos" came to life in Copenhague and Yoeri Albrecht will explain the rationale behind founding the Forum on European Culture in Amsterdam.

Afterwards the floor is open for an extensive Q&A for a truly pan-European discussion.
