The term “smart city” is already somewhat cliché, but how we plan to design intelligent, liveable cities of the future is far from clear. Is a smart city efficient and sustainable, or does it enable chaotic anonymity and personal freedom? And are these goals even mutually exclusive? Some view the modern city as a human-made open-source production, some as a sale markets, and others as a symbol of public participation. Yet as much as these opinions diverge, the topic of mobility is essential. How we move through and get around in a city is relevant to all of us. In addition, there are also clear interactions between the city and the countryside that are becoming more important in times of rising rents and a possible exodus to the rural-urban fringes.

Können wir die Bewegung umkehren und die Flucht zurück auf’s Land antreten? Was hemmt uns? Ist ein städtisches, kosmopolitisches Leben auf dem Land möglich? Wenn ja, was muss passieren – und welche Rolle kann Technologie dabei spielen?
- Mobility & Citymy city > your city > no city-Der Changing Cities e.V. lädt auf der re:publica 2019 zum Panel: Auf Tagungen und Konferenzen zur Lösung der Verkehrskrise herrscht stets der gleiche Tenor: Wir haben kein Erkenntnisdefizit, wir haben ein Umsetzungsdefizit. Gleichzeitig finden sich in der "Mobitlitätsszene" überwiegend Männer mittleren Alters, meist mit Interessen für technische Lösungen für die Verkehrskrise oder für Nutzungs- und Geschäftsmodelle. Am Ende bleiben sie: machtlos!
- Mobility & Citymy city > your city > no city-Die ländliche Bevölkerung fühlt sich zunehmend abgehängt und trotzdem kümmert sich Gesellschaft, Politik und Wirtschaft fast ausschließlich um Städte und treibt die Entwicklung von Smart Cities voran. Wir verbessern die Mobilität von Senioren im ländlichen Raum durch digitale Lösungen. Diese können mit begrenztem finanziellen Spielraum umgesetzt werden und knüpfen dabei an bestehende Mobilitätstrends an.

The young community of Mosul Space are currently setting up Mosul's first co-working and makerspace, a much needed space for youth to come together in the city, devastated by four years of ISIS occupation.
In this fun, creative session, participants will paint over a current image with a vision of a brighter, tech-driven future - creating a first version of what will become a large public mural, #Mosul2030.

- Politics & Societymy city > your city > no city-Berlin ist nicht nur ein weltweit wichtiger Digitalstandort, sondern auch Heimat einer aktiven netzpolitischen Szene und Zufluchtsort für Journalist*innen und Whistleblower*innen und zum Standort für Exilmedien. Denn weltweit werden Medienschaffende von Regierungen und Geheimdiensten immer stärker überwacht. Mit dem Berliner Stipendienprogramm zur Stärkung von Journalist*innen im digitalen Raum erhalten sie ein Stipendium und ein Training in digitaler Sicherheit in Berlin.
