Teresa is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work spans performance, sound, sculpture, image-making, academic and journalistic writing, software development and education. A central focus of her work is the techno-civic that is the relationships that exist between people, species, technologies, city infrastructures and governance.


Her work has been exhibited internationally (Art Electronica, Helsinki Design Week, LABoral, 7a*11d, Locws International, Centre Culturel Irlandais); presented at various conferences and symposia (ISEA, EcoCity, Istanbul Biennale) and reviewed in Nature Magazine, Wire, Creators and BBC online. She has published numerous articles on topics relating to survival; repair cultures; environmental monitoring; interspecies relationships; noise; sonic folklores; histories and heritages of technology and the build environment; surveillance and open data and open source civic resources.

She is a Humboldt Fellow and held research and lecture positions at Cambridge University, UK and Trinity College Dublin and curatorial posts at Science Gallery, Dublin (lead on HACK-THE-CITY) and transmediale/digital cultural festival (2016), Berlin. Since 2013, she directs Urban Knights a programme of events that provokes and promotes practical approaches to urban governance and city living. In 2018, she co-founded Repair Acts an international and multidisciplinary network of artists, scholars, activists, experts and concerned others who work on the topic of repair, care, reuse and maintenance cultures.

She currently holds the post of Professor of City Futures at the School of Art and Design, University of the West of England (UWE) and is a resident of the Pervasive Media Studio in Bristol.
