Melissa Perales moved from Chicago to Berlin in the 90s. Since then she has organized an international film festival (Circles of Confusion WWFVF), owned her own restaurant (UCF), and began booking and promoting live shows and film screenings since 2004 under the moniker M:Soundtrack. She has co-founded and co-curates the music festival Torstrassenfestival since 2011. Melissa is currently a board member with all2gethernow e.V., a conference for new strategies within the music business and its cultural landscape. Melissa’s passion is soundtracks, therefore starting Supertape was the likely result: a music supervision and consulting company which she runs together with the documentary filmmaker, Sabine Steyer. Since 2014, Melissa is a co-founder and consultant of the Music Pool Berlin, the central place to go for musicians and people working in the music business, living and working in Berlin. In 2017, Melissa became the co-founder and curator of a new festival We Make Waves e.V., her first direct endeavor for gender equality in the music business, it was a Berlin based network for women, trans and non- binary in music. Her next mission in 2019/20, creating together with Antje Grothe (Media Producer) and Ilana Harris (Harvard / Music) an event series called Night School with discourse and Live performances for open learning, sharing, networking and support of the talent of the female-identifying and non-binary people working in music industry. Supporting the local music and film community has been a great part of her resume since 1995. Besides all of this Melissa is a pretty good hobby dinner party hostess but her main job is being a mom to two boys, 6 and 18 years old.
