Arts & Culture
Digital technologies are changing our every day culture in a multitude of ways. We are living in the middle of the post-digital age. The Internet is omnipresent – particularly in the arts and in culture. Digital art (from remixes and GIFs to net-art to virtual reality and interactive text-based adventures), creative activism and politico-cultural questions on decision-making all are points we want to discuss with you at re:publica. Or even better - let’s build prototypes!
What roles do museums and exhibition spaces play in today's world? What can libraries do to close the digital gap? How is the distribution and consumption of music and other media changing? What are the latest developments in VR and what impacts will they have on us as a society? How are our personal interactions and societal values changing? We would like to discuss open approaches in cultural institutions, the opening of archives, creative activism, as well as collaborations between the maker scene, programmers, and artists.
This thematic cross-road invites artists, cultural experts, representatives of cultural institutions and researchers to contribute to this track - we welcome installations, performances, exhibitions, workshops and other contributions at least as much as a talk or panel. Your session can be anything from a Bingo to a theater piece.
We look forward to your projects, ideas and topic on arts & culture and are eager to see what kinds of experiences new technologies will offer us in the future.
- Arts & CultureDigital Culture Club-Seit 2012 können Berliner Kulturinstitutionen sich bei der Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa um Projektgelder für die Digitalisierung ihrer Sammlungen und Bestände zu bewerben. Mehr als 80 Projekte von 30 Kulturinstitutionen wurden seitdem durch das Forschungs- und Kompetenzzentrum Digitalisierung Berlin digiS realisiert. Fünf von ihnen stellen sich in Lightning Talks auf der re:publica vor und erzählen im Gepräch, was die Digitalisierungsprojekte bewirkt haben - und was zu tun bleibt.

Viele Fragen für ein starkes Berliner Kulturpanel.

- Arts & CultureExpress Yourself-Arne Vogelgesangs „Flammende Köpfe“ zeichnet den Weg vom Wohnzimmer in den Internet-Aufstand nach. Mittels Vlogs, Propaganda, Musik, dokumentarischem Material und einem wachsenden Chor von Avataren erzählt die Lecture Performance die noch junge Geschichte rechter Wortergreifung im Netz.
- Arts & Culture-This will be part of a two continent performance to launch a new publication, Some Writers Can Give You Two Heartbeats. The session addresses notions of reading as a multi sensory experience, thinking about explorations in assemblage, visual and multimedia production as rooted in a deep and dynamic research process.
- Arts & Culture-Maps are a powerful, but under-explored tool for storytelling and documentary. This session looks at a recent online documentary, Migration Trail, to look at the possibilities for telling stories in interactive maps and data, exploring of what works and what doesn't when telling stories with this format, how audiences interact with it, the opportunities and dangers of location data.

Es stammt von Linken und Rechten oder von der Werbung. Wir systematisieren über 600 Versionen und sensibilisieren für die Kommerzialisierung und Politisierung gemeinsamer Räume.

- Arts & Culture-Der Beitrag richtet den Fokus auf die Neuausrichtung von Kulturverwaltungen in smarten Zeiten. „Amtsstuben“ firmieren neuerdings als Zukunftslabore, stiften an zu Utopien und beflügeln eine mündige Reflexionskultur. Unter dem Motto „Ran an die KI!“ wird die digitale Transformation offensiv gestaltet und das Verhältnis von Mensch und Maschine neu definiert.
- Arts & Culture-Das Internet und soziale Medien sind momentan kein guter Platz für leise Themen: Der Kampf um Aufmerksamkeit macht das Rauschen zu laut und Kontexte unkenntlich. Aber das ist nicht primär ein digitales Problem, auch eine riesige Veranstaltung wie die re:publica hat dieselben Schwierigkeiten. Wie hacken wir in diese Systeme den Platz fürs runterkommen, wie organisieren wir einen Raum für die Zeit, die wir brauchen, um zusammen zu finden, zu trauern und die Sprachlosigkeit zu überwinden?

War in den 70ern sogar Schlager noch subversiv und aufgeladen, so scheint Popmusik in diesem Jahrzehnt so unpolitisch wie nie zu sein. Die Frage dieser Session lautet deshalb: Wie holen wir uns den Protestsong zurück? Wie wird laut sein wieder sexy? Und wann, verdammt nochmal, bekommen wir endlich wieder ein geiles Gitarrensolo?
