#rp19 speaker Kate Devlin: Our Intimate Future with Machines

When we think of sex robots, the image of hypersexualized humanoid sex dolls comes to mind. In her keynote speech at #rp19, Kate Devlin will demonstrate that there’s more to the field of intimacy and technology than dystopian anti-feminist scenarios. Once we move past alarming headlines, there’s space for reflection on the potential of sex tech in general.

Kate Devlin is Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Social and Cultural Artificial Intelligence at King’s College London. She will talk about "sex robots", the impact they already have and could potentially have on society, as well as issues surrounding them such as gender politics, diversity, surveillance and violence.
